Once overcome the climate problems, that Italian city of Genoa suffered the past November, the cultural activity has again been reopened with the VIII biennial lace Exhibition in the Imperial Palace.
This year, Catalonia has been invited by the peculiarity of its lace by means of the ACP, The Catalonian Lace Guild, which brought originary lace pieces for displaying as Arboç laces, Ret-fi blondes from Arenys and black laces from Baix Llobregat, and had the opportunity to participate in the closing act with a speech given by our president Mª Jesús Gonzalez.
They participated too, as Catalan representation besides to M. Jesus Gonzalez, the Secretary of the Executive Board Rosa M.Provencio, and Aida Pou, lacemaker who demonstrated in Arboç laces, which work was much appreciated by the Genoese lacemakers.
The proposal of the VIII Biennale of Genoa for this year has been a reproduction of Gustav Klimt's work "The Three Ages of Woman". The collaboration between lacemakers and embroiderers all around the world have made it possible and this reproduction will become part of the Museum of Clothing in Florence.
The director of the Imperial Palace, currently engaged to cultural activities, opened the event and the president of the lace guild association ”De Fábula”, Mrs. Rosalba Niccoli, organizer of the event made the introduction and thanked the ACP its participation in the Biennale.
Mª Jesús Gonzalez talk about lace tools, technical specifications on traditional and contemporary Catalonian laces made nowadays in our little country, or the gold lace jewelry presented by Jordi Ventura from Barcelona, made from lace grounds worked in gold and silver threads by the ACP lace teacher Mercè Ribas.
A colloquial participation of lacemakers assistant to the closure act interested in knowing details on Catalonian laces, put the end to it.
